The Emerging Player Program is the second tier in the Elite Youth Development Pathway, and is aimed at players from both fifteen and seven a side Rugby, either male or female.
Players invited into this program will have been identified as having the potential to progress through to a National level of representation in their respective age group of XV a side or Sevens Rugby.
This is a smaller squad of players, typically 15-20, who train 4-5 times per week in an Elite level environment aimed at readying them for the rigours of professional Rugby.

The Victorian U16’s, U18’s Schoolboys, U19’s and Sevens programs will be used as a selection tool for the EPP, and players will be assessed not only on their ability on the field, but also on their behaviour away from it.
Sacrifice, a good work ethic, communication skills, honesty, respect and self-motivation will all be necessary traits athletes need to adopt to be involved in such a program.
Additional players can be selected and added to the program at any stage during the year at the discretion of Melbourne Rebels staff. All players are constantly reviewed on their performances at training and their commitment to the program.
Throughout the program players will be monitored and assessed by the program staff with a view to transition into the Melbourne Rising or Melbourne Rebels squads.
